If you like....Bend it Like Beckham (watch) Flavors : It's 'My Big Fat Indian Wedding'.
- New York Magazine, June 23rd 2003

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!
I didn’t expect much from the movie, but I’m so glad I watched it. It was hilarious - I enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s simply brilliant.
- R Madhavan (Actor, Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Mutthamittal/A Peck On The Cheek)

The intricate weaving of the various characters in each other's lives is done well, leaving very little loopholes. They are also portrayed successfully as individuals.

Overall, it is a successful film in bringing in the audience into its own world.
- Julie-Anne Chong (Empire Pictures)

It (Flavors) promises to be one of the most exciting and refreshing independent films made in the US. With a top cast and a unique story line, the movie Flavors is sure to leave a sweet taste in people’s minds this summer movie season.
- Ravi Yande (Indian Express, July 4th 2003)

WHAT AN EXCELLENT MOVIE! In my opinion, the story was consistent and VERY VERY FUNNY. I think it’s been a while since I saw a GOOD FUNNY movie. All the actors were excellent - I'm sure this movie will go places! Definitely worth the ride from Philadelphia.
- Samir Jain (Scriptwriter)

Flavors is fun and truly funny. An ambitious film that works! A bunch of real and quirky characters unravel a bundle of stories that connect on course leading us beyond the laughter to wonder about love and life. I am ready to see it again.
- David Kullman (Scriptwriter and Screenplay Analyst)

Flavors has raised the standards for Indo-American comedy film genre. This is the best one by far. Most of the other movies deal with issues with black and white answers. Flavors was colorful: expressing the oh-so-many flavors of human relations. The movie captured a young, jubilant energy which flew off the screen and spread joy to the audience like a wild fire. Contagiously energetic. Not to mention the beauty in which the story is told. Great editing and great music scoring as well.
- Samrat Chakrabarti (Actor, Arya)

FLAVORS… Wow! The great variety of character sets brought to the screen were hilarious yet heartwarming. The fast-paced flow of action was nothing like I’ve seen in similar movies of the past - it kept me on the edge of my seat, with room to slap my knee along with the roaring laughter. The “gelling” of the tracks inevitably gave way to the ideal fusion that would please realists and romantic comedians alike. Such innovation was way overdue, and FLAVORS delivered!
- Hima Tadoori

My 2 cents on FLAVORS:

Script: Very intelligent script with humor filled all over, I couldn't stop laughing.
Camera: I couldn't appreciate the camera work much (blame it on Beta SP projection instead of HD) but liked the shots.
Cast: Though mostly everyone is new, they fit the bill perfectly. They did well within their limitations. I didn't think Vivek would be that funny, but people laughed for every joke.
Background Music: There are so many good tunes which blend with the scenes so well, I hope you will be releasing the audio soon.
Editing: With such a demanding script, editing is not easy at all and the editor proved his mettle.
Production: The movie doesn't show richness, but they didn't compromise on the HD format, took time and a lot of patience to get the things they wanted.
Direction: Its not easy at all for first-timers (well, 2nd timers) to deal with tracks that intermix, but it was handled very well. And this movie has its share of surprises too.
Audience: Most of the audience enjoyed the movie thoroughly.
- Rambabu Gotur

I have been thinking of your movie ever since I came back from the film festival. It is very very nice; light humour in a tight script, which converges by the end; a very well written and directed film. And I feel the casting is perfect. Every one looked very natural. It is wonderful how you guys have taken small steps to really make it good. All the best. The only bad feeling I had when I came out of the theater was - that I was not able to be part of the great team and a very good film.

REELWORLD International Film Festival

Truly a film with something for everyone.

FLAVORS filmmaking team has taken a giant leap with this feature film. Though previous films have traditionally surrounded the ‘Indian way of life,’ this carefully crafted story shows them at the top of their game in moviemaking. The amusing and topical script is absorbing, intelligent and beautifully realized by the excellent cast.

What makes this movie special is the meticulous attention placed on each of its characters, employing them not in the traditional desi manner that is so common, but as part of a grand mosaic that actually seems to be worth sharing.

The flow of this well-crafted film is emphasized by a uniquely crafted score and fantastic editing.
- Official Release, ReelWorld International Film Festival

The screening of ‘Flavors’ was wildly successful and an honor to attend. I've rarely seen an audience enjoy themselves more. The performances were fresh, so engaging and so charming, we didn't stop laughing from start to finish, and it wasn't just laughter, it was laughter with love.
- Eric Byler (Writer/Director, 2003 Independent Spirit Award nominee Charlotte Sometimes)

Flavors is the new gold-standard for Indo-American cinema, and sets the bar ‘very’ high. This is the most grin-, guffaw-, chuckle-, and howl-inducing film I have seen in a very long time. Directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru have accomplished something that I have long suspected and seldom seen - that comedy can be fast-paced, clean, heartening, and insightful without compromising the genre.

So go see Flavors for the chattiness and character-development of Robert Altman, the non-linearity and parallel storylines of Quentin Tarantino, and the quirkiness and ultimate humanity of R K Narayan. And then go see it again, this time with a shameless grin of anticipation plastered all over your mug!
- Srinath Sampath (Actor, Green Card Fever)

I saw your film, Flavors, at Reel World over the weekend. I would like to say that it was a pretty well made film. The production value was great and I think that really does a lot for films. There were so many South Asian Films this year and I think only about 2 or 3 were actually good movies, yours being one of them. Your concept of characters and events coming together and showing how their lives were somehow connected was really great. I was also wondering if it might be a work-in-progress? [It was a work-in progress.] It seems that the stories could have had a bit more to them... though the parts that you showed of each story was really good and quite realistic. Your choice of actors was also good... and it’s great when the actors that were chosen can really act!!!

VIEWER Feedback (From ReelWorld International Film Festival, Toronto)

‘Much better than any of the NRI Films I have seen so far.’

‘Although it is a movie about Indian characters, the subject and story-line are very universal.’

‘It is not the typical Desi, stereo-typed characters, cultural differences, I-have-made-a-film-too, kind of stuff that we have been seeing over the last few years. I think this movie successfully crosses the chasm.’

‘I was blown away by the screenplay. There is a surprise at every turn... so obvious and yet so subtle. In hindsight, this truly is a masterpiece.’

‘Flavors is right up there with Monsoon Wedding and Bend it Like Beckham.’

‘Your concept of characters and events coming together and showing how their lives were somehow connected was really great.’

‘I did not want it to end. It was amazing how so many stories were told in one movie without ever losing my attention.’
