A good-natured Indian-American romantic comedy in the style of 'Bend It Like Beckham.' Characters are refreshingly uptempo, the story is lively, the film looks slick and little time is spent ruminating on social concerns like the problems of cultural assimilation.

- Richard James Havis, Hollywood Reporter

If you're in the mood for a charming, romantic comedy that strays from the genre's predictable formula, you should take in Flavors.

What carries the film is solid comedic acting, snappy dialogue and likeable characters - it draws its strength from a strong ensemble cast and the sweetness of its characters. - Scott Colby, Toronto Star

The directors show a remarkable amount of maturity
in the way they tell various stories. While many aspiring filmmakers are content to stay within the lines, this duo isn't afraid to experiment. An ambitious little indie that deftly sidesteps a lot of the usual genre clichés.

Gary Dowell, The Dallas Morning News

Bright & good-spirited.
The conflicts are resolved with grace and humor.

Dave Kehr, New York Times

Hilarious, engaging, smartly avoiding melodrama and silly comedy. It is perhaps the most ambitious and colorful film in the independent film movement.

If you have been disillusioned with the films being churned out by first-time filmmakers, FLAVORS might make you change your mind.
Arthur Pais, Rediff.com

A truly unique comedy!
The directors provide a satirical yet revealing glimpse into a culture most Americans know very little about... A charming comedy. - Johny Leahan, indieWIRE

Breezy comedy... breaks stereotypes
. - Sandip Roy, San Jose Mercury News

Likeable, credible actors, snappy dialogue and a determinedly upbeat tone

- Ronnie Schieb, Variety

A solid film, with a good story and fun and interesting characters. Each storyline has its own quirky charm
and is approached in a lighthearted and humorous way. It was funny and moving at the same time.

- Sujit Chawla, The Chief Report

Earnest and charming... this cheerful movie isn't the sort of thing you see everyday. - Gregory Kirschling, Entertainment Weekly

A gentle comedy with enough heart and smarts to keep even outsiders well entertained. There are some nice original romantic-comedic ideas along the way, and writer-directors Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru can be congratulated for offering this window into the star-crossed lives of this appealing, just slightly zany group.
- Joshua Tanzer, Offoffoff Film

Comedy juggles a large and attractive cast of characters and they work together surprisingly smoothly. The sweet-natured ensemble comedy is clearly aimed at an international audience. - Maitland McDonagh, TV GUIDE'S MOVIE GUIDE

Stylish and likable slice-of-life comedy. Bharati Achrekar is a stand out among the dozen characters - this kind of part, played for breezy ethnic humor in lesser movies, is gently done by Achrekar. - Richard von Busack, Metro

ATLANTA JOURNAL
Filmmakers steep their film in a gentle sort of good humor that's hard to dislike.

ST LOUIS TODAY

What's unusual about "Flavors" is that the characters' ethnicity is merely the sugar coating on a matrimonial comedy that's as American as apple pie. Altman-esque tapestry...

With it's fine direction and purposeful and imaginative storytelling, is undoubtedly one of the best Indian American films made in the USA. Not to be missed.

INDIA ABROAD
The film knows its core audience and plays to, and for, them to pitch-perfection.

- Prem Panicker, India Abroad

STARBULLETIN
Comedy crosses cultures - sweetly satisfying. The problem with many romantic comedies is that they often overload us with pap-and-sap when we'd just rather have a taste of real sincerity. Thankfully, the new Indian-American film, "Flavors," by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, doesn't make this mistake.

REELWORLD
Amusing, absorbing, intelligent and beautifully realized. Truly a movie with something for everyone.

HONOLULU WEEKLY

Separates itself from the usual ethno-cultural movies.

SAN FRANCISCO ASIAN AMERICAN
It’s not your typical desi film - it's the real thing!

INDIA IN NEW YORK
It’s My Big Fat Indian Wedding - The most ambitious film.

Flavors is a spirited, funny look at Indians living in America. The nice thing is you don’t have to have been born in India, or even know anyone of Indian descent, to enjoy it.

Director/writers Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru handle everything deftly. The directors spoof work obsessions, new stereotypes, cultural contrasts and American life at the same time they also embrace them.

One astounding thing about Flavors is its amazing wholesomeness - there is no nudity, virtually no talk of sex, no violence and only rare cursing used to comic effect. It’s not that the film is overly prim, it just gets by without the shady side of life.

This is really a director’s film - they do a truly fine job of transitioning between storylines and moving through time, letting characters develop and reveal themselves at just the right pace and keeping things bright and moving without ever getting sappy.

Somebody get these guys a Hollywood movie.

But “Flavors” isn’t a Hollywood movie and that’s part of its charm. It’s an independent film about a specific culture that manages to bring that experience to life for any viewer in a funny, heartfelt, engaging way. If you don’t know these people, you’ll likely wish you did.

Humorous. Wholesome. Innovative. Here comes a film that is different and fresh in the face of a profusion of cross-over films. And a lot of credit ought to go to directors with a keen eye on the funny yet frustrating side of life.

Funny, Very Funny. Subject cuts close to the bone… takes a refreshing look…

SCREEN

Its uniqueness is its salt-of-the-earth normalcy. The situations look real and not faked. And we can relate to what’s happening on screen. The filmmakers should be praised for their efforts.

FULL HYDERABAD

Flavors delivers a comedy that's crafted and timed well. The film doesn't use its actors as props to the comedy, instead putting them in believably awkward circumstances and then letting the characters to the talking. And the funnies work. These are things you can actually imagine people saying, unlike those desperate attempts of humor often delivered as one-liners in films of the past.

JAM

Flavors doesn’t try too hard to generate laughs. But it’s funny in its own way. In the end it’s like a pleasant surprise and leaves you with that great feeling you get when you enjoy something much more than you expected to.

STATESMAN

Debutante Directors Raj and DK have created a truly unique comedy.

The best part of the movie is that there’s no balle balle, no sermons and no cultural clashes – none of these clichés. While the movie falls in the genre of cross-over films, the feel of the movie is entirely different.

Refreshing performances, fresh and lively script.

Go and watch flavors when you’re feeling down. You’ll sure come out of the hall with lifted spirits.

Very enjoyable movie, the kind which leaves a pleasant feeling long after watching.
